Farmersville Elementary School

We believe that students are capable of doing many  extraordinary things.  We trust that the children who enter Farmersville Elementary will join our community with a sense of respect and integrity.  Students should be able to be themselves, work hard and be enriched everyday.  We are so glad to have your child here with us at Farmersville Elementary and we hope to see you involved in our community, as well.

Our  Farmersville Tigers are the most important part of our Community!

A Hello from Ms. Hilton:
I noticed the other day that the Christmas trees are already going up on the lamp-posts down town and the holiday decorations are starting to appear in stores. Does anyone else feel the need to hit the pause button of life? Seems the Seasons come and go faster and faster right along with our school year!
We’ve had a busy Fall here on The Farm. Our annual Tiger Trek took place on October 8th. This year we held a highly spirited, school-wide walk on a beautiful blue-sky day! The efforts of our PTA representatives, sponsors, and all of our volunteers culminated in a wonderful event for the students and staff. The impact will be felt throughout the school year, as our students will be able to experience field trips and school assemblies made possible by this fundraiser. Thank you to all who contributed!
Another exciting extra-curricular event was the naming and selection of our school mascot, ROARY! Thirteen fifth grade students applied and auditioned for the honor of representing Farmersville at school and community events. Keona Montague, Thomas Sweeney, and Louis Vidal were selected in a very competitive process. Congratulations to all of the candidates!
While we celebrate the achievements of our students outside of the classroom, our priority continues to be challenging our students to excel in their academics. Our school goals for this year target our primary classrooms and building the foundation of literacy. We want all of our students reading on or above grade level by the time they reach third grade. Research continues to build showing a strong correlation between third grade literacy and success in secondary and post-secondary education.
In the intermediate grades, our focus is not only on achievement, but also on growth. Our fourth and fifth grade PSSA data from last year provided strong evidence that 90%+ of our students, met or exceeded a years worth of academic growth in the 2013-2014 school year. This year, we want to make it 100%! Our teachers are working hard to ensure that happens. You can help support the cause by continuing to monitor your child’s progress, attending Parent-Teacher Conferences, and READING with your child every night. They are NEVER too old.
I want to once again thank you all for your continued support of our teachers and staff. May you all have a peaceful and happy holiday season. Hit that pause button of life, at least for a little while, and enjoy the simple pleasures that surround you.

Happy Holidays!
Ms. Hilton
