We believe that students are capable of doing many  extraordinary things.  We trust that the children who enter Farmersville Elementary will join our community with a sense of respect and integrity.  Students should be able to be themselves, work hard and be enriched everyday.  We are so glad to have your child here with us at Farmersville Elementary and we hope to see you involved in our community, as well.

Our  Farmersville Tigers are the most important part of our Community!

                                            2016 PSSA Testing

                                                                                                                                                                                   March 22, 2016

Dear Parents,

As many of you already know, the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSAs) will be administered to our third, fourth, and fifth grade students next month.  Testing will begin on Monday, April 11th.

While there is a lot of pressure put on schools to perform well on the PSSAs, my goal is to not allow this pressure to fall on the shoulders of our students.  We take this responsibility seriously but we want the experience to be a positive one for our students.  This is the beginning of many achievement tests our children will be asked to take in their educational careers and they need to know they are supported.  We want them to see it as an opportunity for them to show everything they do know and not become discouraged about what they don’t know.  We hope you will also share in this positive attitude and encourage your child to do his/her personal best in a low-stress manner.

Extra preparation should not be needed.  If you are helping your child to keep up with his or her schoolwork, monitoring classroom test results and homework, and regularly communicating with teachers, then your child should be on track.  Talk to your child about test taking strategies and test anxiety beforehand.  If you notice that your child appears particularly worried about this assessment, talk to him or her about worries and fears.  This may help ease test taking stress.  You can also help by making sure your child is getting enough sleep each night and eating a healthy breakfast before school.  Finally, please make sure your child reports to school on time and avoid scheduling any appointments during the testing window.

The full testing schedule, a FAQ document, and important notice about electronic devices have been sent home for your careful review.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  Once again, I thank you for your continued support of your children, our staff, and our school.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hilton

Principal
