Farmersville Elementary School

We believe that students are capable of doing many  extraordinary things.  We trust that the children who enter Farmersville Elementary will join our community with a sense of respect and integrity.  Students should be able to be themselves, work hard and be enriched everyday.  We are so glad to have your child here with us at Farmersville Elementary and we hope to see you involved in our community, as well.

Our  Farmersville Tigers are the most important part of our Community!

A Hello from Ms. Hilton:
Happy New Year, Farmersville Families! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your family. As much as I love snow I am thankful for the break that Mother Nature has given us so far this winter! Hopefully the trend continues!

We once again wrapped up the year in style with classy performances by our band, orchestra, and choral groups. Mr. Morrow’s Harvest Concert in November was a success and featured many outstanding performances by ensembles as well as solo musicians. I hope this fall concert becomes an annual tradition for our band and orchestra. Mrs. Borst’s choral groups helped us all get into the holiday spirit with spirited performances in December. I especially loved the story of The Nutcracker performed by our fifth grade students and the singing and dancing of our beloved Kindergarteners!

There continues to be many things to keep us busy in the months ahead. We have several exciting school-wide assemblies in February. “Mad Science” will present in early February with the opportunity for students to sign up and attend a six-week after-school program starting at the end of the month. Continuing our Science theme will be “Elevation Education” on February 19th. They will present assemblies on matter, climate change, and the water cycle. Dr. DeLeo has sparked a love of the sciences in our students and I’m hopeful these assemblies will keep the fire burning! Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring these programs.

Our students and teachers continue to work diligently in the classroom as they navigate the new PA Common Core standards. While we prepare the students for the newly aligned PSSAs in April, our focus continues to be educating the WHOLE CHILD. Providing opportunities for every individual student to discover their strengths and identify their next steps, both academically and personally, and to make learning FUN and ENGAGING…. that is what we strive for each and every day. I am confident we are meeting that benchmark!

Our BIGGEST news district wide is the anticipated FULL-DAY Kindergarten program beginning next school year. Pending board approval on January 26th, every elementary school will be implementing full-day Kindergarten classes in 2015-2016. We are holding registration appointments beginning on January 28th at Farmersville. Please spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors with upcoming five-year olds and have them call to schedule an appointment.

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support of our students, staff, and of others. Farmersville is genuinely a unique place full of caring and generous people extending far beyond the walls of our classrooms. Whether it’s through the outpouring of support you show for our school fundraisers or your presence at school functions, your commitment to your child and your community makes a difference. We live in an unpredictable and sometimes scary world. It’s important that we continue to show our children how individual acts of kindness, love, selflessness, and courage can make a difference and offer HOPE to those in need. Thank you and happy New Year!

Ms. Hilton
