Farmersville Elementary School

We believe that students are capable of doing many  extraordinary things.  We trust that the children who enter Farmersville Elementary will join our community with a sense of respect and integrity.  Students should be able to be themselves, work hard and be enriched everyday.  We are so glad to have your child here with us at Farmersville Elementary and we hope to see you involved in our community, as well.

Our  Farmersville Tigers are the most important part of our Community!

A Hello from Ms. Hilton:

I don’t know about you but for a while there I thought we had dodged Old Man Winter!  Now, I don’t recall the last time I saw a blade of grass.  I’m hopeful that by the time this edition is released that all of the snow will have melted and daffodils will have begun peaking through the thawing soil.  I have just moved our clocks ahead so there’s no doubt summer is just around the corner.  We can make it!

Our intermediate students (Gr.3-5) will begin the new PA Core PSSAs on April 13th.  As our students face this challenge I want to once again share a quote made by our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Silva, last year: “As we head into the PSSA and Keystone testing season, please take a moment to remember that the BASD Roadmap and district goals are built on the premise that if we provide rich, deep, and engaging instruction that addresses the whole child the test scores will take care of themselves…. The more we convey "test prep" as a key strategy, the more we avoid the real challenge of teaching and learning in authentic and personalized ways.”  It’s reassuring to know that our new Governor and Secretary of Education also share this sentiment and support our focus on the whole child.  More information on PSSA scheduling, etc. will be mailed home soon.

We have received school board approval for our full-day kindergarten in all sixteen elementary schools.  We are excited to be offering this opportunity to build a strong foundation in our youngest learners.  Please share with family and friends of kindergarten-age children that our registration window remains open and they may call for more information.

I want to thank our families for their continued support and participation in our school and our students.  We have many exciting events coming this spring, including the Harlem Wizard’s Basketball game on March 29th!  I look forward to seeing you all there.  Be sure to check the PTA calendar for more events as we move into April and May.

Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of our revised calendar due to the make-up days:

April 2nd  – Snow Make-Up Day full day

April 6th – Snow Make-Up Day full day

June 5th and June 8th TBD (Awaiting confirmation from Superintendent)

Happy Spring!
